In the Lab of Cosmic Rays there exist a scintillator telescope (3 scintillators) coupled to photomultipliers from Hamamatsu which need to be powered at -1500V (max). The LIP workshop in Coimbra developed a HV box based on DC/DC converters from hamamatsu that provide 4 HV channels (max 1mA per 2 common channels).
THe HV box can be controlled manually by two panel buttons or remotely via USB interface. The work to be done consist on making a program and a graphical interface running in a linux system that shall be able to control the HV box.
The remote comunication is made thorugh a FTDICHIP. The VCP driver emulates a standard PC serial port such that the USB device may be communicated with as a standard RS232 device.
